A fascinating look at breast cancer from politics to human rights will be the topic of discussion at BCAC’s AGM next Friday the 15th of November.

Former breast physician, politician and now the country’s Equal Employment Opportunities commissioner, Dr Jackie Blue, will address the meeting and will discuss her experience of breast cancer as a health practitioner, politician and advocate of human rights.

BCAC chairperson, Libby Burgess, says Dr Blue has been a long-time supporter of women with breast cancer and her talk promises to be thought provoking.

“Dr Blue has such a wealth of experience, both as someone who has worked at the coalface of breast cancer and as someone who has an insider’s view of the political process.  Jackie played a vital role in helping us get Herceptin funded and I think she’ll provide some excellent insights on breast cancer and how we can ensure women in New Zealand get the best possible treatment and care.”

The BCAC team will also update everyone on what they’ve been up to for the past year, including a short presentation on young women and breast cancer.

You don’t have to be a member to attend the AGM – everyone is welcome.  It takes place at 7pm on Friday the 15th of November, at the Auckland Cancer Society’s Domain Lodge, 1 Boyle Cres, Parnell, Auckland.

Drinks and nibbles will be served and the BCAC team welcomes all attendees to join us for dinner after the meeting.

If you’d like to attend, please email Celia on celiam@breastcancer.org.nz.
