BCAC is excited to see two of its member groups join forces to launch an initiative to fund research into breast cancer in New Zealand.

The New Zealand Breast Cancer Foundation and the Breast Cancer Research Trust have joined with the Health Research Council of New Zealand to distribute $400,000 to breast cancer research.

BCAC chair Libby Burgess says it’s fantastic to see these organisations working together to further research in New Zealand.

“It’s through research that we’ll ultimately be able to improve outcomes for New Zealand women with breast cancer, so we’re really thrilled to see these groups offering a sizeable grant to help fund New Zealand science and medical research into breast cancer.”

The three funding partners are hoping to receive applications for high quality, innovative research that will ultimately ensure survival from the disease.

Research that looks at any of the following areas will be considered:

  • the identification of potential targets for treatment
  • early detection
  • predictive diagnosis
  • tailored treatments
  • predicting responsiveness to treatments.

Anyone interested in applying for a grant, first needs to submit a Registration of Intent via the Health Research Council here online submission system  before  12pm, Thursday, 14 November 2013.
