The Waikato Dragon Boat Association recently organised a regatta on Lake Rotoroa, Hamilton.
Everyone had a great day and enjoyed being out on the water, even when the weather decided to be a little unpredictable.
The Waikato Treasure Chests were involved in five races, which included the Breast Cancer Survivor race.
Because there were not enough Treasure Chest competitors they borrowed, thanks to Rosa’s organising, four of the lovely BooBops team. It was a good race and about half way down the 250 metres the heavens opened and torrential rain made the race just that little bit more interesting, but in the end the BooBops won. This was followed by the flower ceremony to remember those who have lost their lives to breast cancer and as always it was a very moving part of the day.
The Treasure Chests team want to say a HUGE THANKS to their supporters and coach, 'Dad', for standing out in the rain cheering them on.
With the paddling finished it was announced that Amanda was paddler of the day. Congratulations Amanda - very well deserved!
