BCAC was formed in November 2004 with twelve member groups and now, in 2011, we have 32 breast cancer-related member groups and around 50 individual members. Click here for a list of our member groups and information about their activities.
To mention our two newest groups to become members: Shocking Pink and the Australasian IBC Network.
Shocking Pink is a new Christchurch-based group set up to support young women with breast cancer. They are currently developing a website at www.shockingpink.org.nz to provide online resources and information. To contact them please email them at info@shockingpink.org.nz.
The Australasian IBC Network (AIBCN) has also very recently been set up by BCAC committee member, Jenny Williams and Sandra Wilson, who is based in Australia. This is an informal group aiming to provide information and support for those with inflammatory breast cancer, a rare and aggressive form of the disease.
The group is also setting up a website to share information about support and treatment options available both in New Zealand and Australia as their own experiences highlighted for them the lack of information available in both countries for this type of breast cancer. We will let you know when this website is up and running but to contact them in the meantime please email bcac@breastcancer.org.nz and put AIBCN in the subject line.
During October 2011 and in the coming weeks many of our member groups have fundraising activities happening. These events and news from the groups can be found on our website www.breastcancer.org.nz by clicking on the “News” tab then the “News from BCAC’s member groups” button to the left of the page. To read all about their current activities click here.
BCAC invites membership applications from breast cancer-related groups and individuals with an interest in supporting our work. Membership to BCAC is free. Please email us and we will send you an application form.
NB: BCAC member group, the Waikato Breast Cancer Trust, is selling the diary pictured here to raise funds for continuing research into breastcancer. Visit www.wbct.org.nz to purchase your copy now.
