The Pink Dragons dragon boat breast cancer survivors’ team celebrated their 10th Anniversary last year with a special Regatta joined by many other dragon boat teams. All the teams dressed up for the ‘Swashbucklers’ themed afternoon but unfortunately the weather had other ideas about the teams getting out on the water to race! High winds meant the racing had to be cancelled, but it didn’t stop everyone from having a fun afternoon.

It’s now one year on from those celebrations and with another season behind them the Pink Dragons are looking forward to 2017/18. Unfortunately their boat will have some empty seats this coming season and they are on the hunt for breast cancer survivors in the Auckland area to join the ‘Pinkies’. If you want to challenge yourself, whether it is following recent recovery from breast cancer treatment or you are a survivor of many years, dragon boating could be the sport for you.

The Pink Dragons train two evenings a week, usually from October through to the end of March and they take part in ‘fun’ regattas and both Regional and National Championships. Being part of their team presents an opportunity to build up your fitness, meet new people, have fun and, above all, share the comradery and support of other breast cancer survivors.

If this sounds like you and you’d like to find out more please visit their website, www.pinkdragons.org.nz or feel free to phone Liz on 0274548309.
